The major benefit of going into the field of social work
is nonmonetary. Social workers do not make large salaries, but their jobs can be
emotionally rewarding.
Social workers generally work with
people who are in need of help of one kind or another. They work, for example, with
children who have been abused or with elderly people who are living in nursing homes and
(often) do not have enough contact with people who truly care about
them.
Because of this, social work can be very rewarding.
A person who does well as a social worker will have many experiences where he or she
will help people who have problems. A social worker can make a large difference in the
lives of the people he or she works with. Making a difference in the life of a person
who is in need is a very rewarding thing.
