The Seventh Day Adventist Church believes that the Sabbath day
should be observed on Saturday rather than Sunday. Its teachings and doctrines are largely in
keeping with fundamentalist Christianity which some exceptions. Among their teachings are that
the souls of the dead are in an unconscious state until the day of Judgment and "investigative
judgement, which states that Divine judgment of humanity has been in progress since 1844 when the
religion was founded. The Church believes in the Trinity and the infallibility of the Bible as
the Word of God. Unlike other denominations, however, the Church emphasizes diet and health. One
of the early founders of the health movement within the church was John Harvey Kellogg, whose
brother William formed the Kellogg's Cereal company. It was the work of the Adventists which
introduced breakfast cereal into the mainstream American diet as a health
food.
