Much of the answer to this question is going to be based
on specific circumstances. There might be instances where one form of recruitment is
more advantageous than another. These conditions and contexts are vitally important in
being able to determine which one has greater merit. I will say that internal
recruitment might hold a bit more sway in my mind than external because of its ability
to demonstrate understanding about specific contingencies about an organization. What
this means is that internal recruitment, employing from within, allows a better chance
to demonstrate knowledge of a specific organization and its culture. When employers
advance from within or hire from within, they go far in having to eliminate a transition
period of needing to understand the culture of an organization. This is already known.
Internal recruitment has merit in this paradigm.
