We are given the percentage of Americans who believe that
life exists somewhere else in the galaxy is 61%. So 61 out of every 100 people polled
believe that life exists somewhere else in the
galaxy.

Therefore (100 - 61) = 39 out of 100 Americans do
not believe that life exists somewhere else in the
galaxy.

Therefore, if we need to find the probability of
people who do not believe we have 39 favorable events for every 100
events.

Therefore the required probability is
39%.

The probability of randomly selecting
someone who does not believe that life exists somewhere else in the galaxy is
39%.
