Explain what the well-known biologist meant in context of the origin of life by saying: "Given enough time, anything is possible."

This is a statement in the context of the origin of life
and evolution. For life to have originated, some molecules made of carbon and hydrogen
had to join together in a unique pattern. Now the number of ways in which these could
have joined is very large. And there are only a few formations that can be called alive.
It therefore required a long duration of time, before millions of different combinations
occurred finally leading to one that had life.

Similarly,
evolution is all about probabilities. There are millions of ways in which genes can link
up to form different organisms. And the possibility that the genetic make-up of the
offspring is better is quite small. Therefore, a long duration of time is required for
life to evolve.

In short, if there is enough time for the
unimaginably large number of combinations and permutations to occur, any new organism
better than all those present now, can be created through
evolution.
