What is the surface area of cylinder with radius of 2 cm and height 8 cm?

We know that the surface area of the cylinder
is:

Surface area = area of the bases + area of the
sides

The area of the bases = 2* area of the
circle

                                = 2* r^2
*pi

The area of the side = circumference of the circle * height of
the cylinder

                             = 2*pi*r  *
h

Then the surface area is:

Surface
area = 2r^2 * pi + h* 2*pi*r

Given r = 2   and h =
8

==> surface area = 2*(2^2)*pi +
8*2*pi*2

                          = 8pi +
32pi

                            =
40pi

                            =
125.66

Then the surface area is : 125.66
cm^2
