slope-intercept looks like this:
y = mx +
b
which looks like yours with m = 1/2 and b = 1. If instead you are
supposed to transform the equation into a different form, for example the point-intercept form,
this is straightforward.
The point-intercept form takes this
shape:
(y-y0) = m(x - x0)
This form is
useful when you already know the slope, m, and a point P = (x0, y0) that the line passes
through. In your case you know P = (-5, -4), and you know that m =
1/2.
y - -4 = 1/2(x - -5)
y + 4 = 1/2(x
+ 5) --> slope-intercept form.
You can verify that this is
the same equation as y = 1/2x + 1 :
y = 1/2x + 5 -

y = 1/2x + 1
