write in slope-intercept form. (-5,-4), y=1/2x+1

Your question is already in slope-intercept form.
slope-intercept looks like this:

y = mx +
b

which looks like yours with m = 1/2 and b = 1. If instead you are
supposed to transform the equation into a different form, for example the point-intercept form,
this is straightforward.

The point-intercept form takes this
shape:

(y-y0) = m(x - x0)

This form is
useful when you already know the slope, m, and a point P = (x0, y0)  that the line passes
through. In your case you know P = (-5, -4), and you know that m =
1/2.

y - -4 = 1/2(x - -5)

y + 4 = 1/2(x
+ 5)   --> slope-intercept form.

You can verify that this is
the same equation as y = 1/2x + 1 :

y = 1/2x + 5 -
4

y = 1/2x + 1
