What battes did Japan fight in during WWII?

Japan fought many, many battles in this war.  Some were
land battles, others were more of sea and or air
battles.

Here are some of the more famous battles that were
fought by Japan.

First, there was the battle (if you can
call it that) of Pearl Harbor.   After that, the Japanese won many battles in the
Pacific.  Many of these did not really have names.  For example, the Japanese conquered
the Philippines without fighting any battles that have been given
names.

Some other important battles were the Battle of the
Coral Sea, Midway and Guadalcanal early in the war.  Late in the war there were Peliliu,
Saipan, Iwo Jima and Okinawa.  There was the Battle of the Leyte Gulf as the US
reinvaded the Philippines.
