Mrs. Thorne is the school counselor. As a counselor, she has an
obligation to keep information confidential. When B.J. and Tyrone go to her office to seek help
for Andy, she tells them that his reactions are normal for someone who has had the tramatic
experience that he has had. But then she violates Andy's privacy by telling his friends that he
is getting some outside counseling. She says it to alleviate his friends' anxieties over his
behavior, but she knows she has overstepped her boundaries when she tells the boys that she told
them "in the strictest of confidences". (pg 112)
